Synopsis

The minority education system plays a crucial role in preserving the Slovene language in the Raba Region. Based on an online survey conducted among parents of children attending bilingual primary schools in Gornji Senik/Felsőszölnök and Števanovci/Apátistvánfalva, this paper examines their attitudes towards bilingual schools. The results show that the majority of parents support the bilingual education model implemented in the Raba Region and consider it an advantage for their child to attend a bilingual school. The findings underscore the vital importance of bilingual schools for sustaining the Slovene community in the region.
