Synopsis

In the chapter, I examine the position of the Slovene community in Italy, highlighting two aspects of inequality affecting the Slovene language in this context, manifested as linguistic secessionism. The community thus calls for explicit language policies that also address digital infrastructure. Central to these efforts is the Slovene Research Institute (SLORI), therefore I outline its key achievements, particularly the creation of STIKit, a corpus of proofread Slovene texts from the Slovene-Italian language contact area.
